Welcome 2012!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yes, I've been gone for a while....what? A year or two? I was kind of taking time off. My kitty-love-of-my-life Opie died in 2010. I got into a bit of a funk after that. Some may find it strange to be so attached to an animal. Those people must have never met a cat like Opie. He was magical. One in a million.

xoxo

I decided to start fresh for 2012. I am taking on a whole new way of eating, and I might try a whole new way of doing art too! I am so excited about nutrition! I am reading all kinds of books on it, I just can't get enough! I bought a juicer and that is my new thing. Everyday I make juice. Carrot, apple and ginger. It is sooooo tasty and sooooo good for you too! I am eating raw greens and all real whole foods. I'm staying away from anything processed. No canned, packaged, frozen or fast food for me. I'm *trying* to cut out sugar. I think I'm doing pretty good. I am also not eating meat. I feel so strongly about my love for animals and I just don't think I can eat them anymore. I had been weening myself off of meat for a while now. But I think this is it. No more. I want to get myself well. I bought a movie on itunes called Food Matters. I highly recommend watching it. They said something in the video that really resonated with me. It was "the body can heal itself." What, what? For some reason I never fully knew this, or believed it....Now that I do, I am going to do everything in my power to heal myself. I want to be healthy and strong. Here is the movie off of youtube. I highly recommend it:

I plan to post more frequently, thank you all so much for sticking around :)

Tascha! Glad to see you back! Aww, I was sorry to hear about Opie. There are tons of excellent recipe and food blogs out there with raw and vegan things that I think you'd love. And I do one myself, so stop by sometime! xo

Happy New Year to you! Good for you too. Your health and inner happiness is the most important thing and that balance will inspire you in many ways. I'm so sorry about your kitty. My first loss was in 2006 when my siamese ~ Tinker died at 17. It took me a good 2 years to be at peace without her. But, know it will come... xx

Hello Tascha. Happy 2012! So Sorry to hear about Opie. Animals mean so many things, for so many reasons, and I'm glad you just took the time to mourn the loss rather than play it down because it was 'just a cat'. They are our children after all - no matter the species.

Also wanted to let you know that my 'Tascha's world' Christmas ornaments looked so great on my tree! They made me smile every time I walked past it and caught a glimpse of them :) Stay well and happy for 2012 - happy to see you back!

Hi Tascha, so good to see you. Sorry about Opie. Our last cat lived to be 21. I know how you feel. Wow, gotta love that juicer, it's awesome and the juice sounds great. I remember previously you had posted about Spirolina and I ran out and got some. It was good and it did give me pep and vitality. Glad you are back.

last Sunday was 8 years since my Maddie, my Golden Retriever passed away. I still cry when I think of her. She was my Soulmate dog. I have a houseful of furry kids and adore them all but I know what you mean about that "special" one.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
My Deepest Sympathies.

I do look forward to reading your posts again! Welcome Back!

i hope you are well! coming from a chiropractor in training, yes the body can heal itself, and i am glad you have come across this concept. i guess i forget that everyone doesn't know this already.

as for giving up sugar... atleast for beverages, have you looked into stevia? in the natural liquid form, just a few drops, amazing and goes so far!

Happy new year to you.
I am so sad to read about opie.
In the end it doesn´t matter if a friend has two or four legs, we will allways miss them.

Tascha how great to see you blogging again! (I don't have Facebook so haven't been able to keep up with you).
I'm so sorry to hear about Opie, and remember seeing him in your videos. It's hard to get over something like that, they truly are our soul companions.

So you are trying the raw food lifestyle, that's awesome!! I learned about it last spring, and have been doing pretty good with it. I dropped all dairy after finding out more about the diary industry, and I don't miss it one bit. Same with meat. Good luck on this journey, you will feel so much better, and clear.
oh, and you look fabulous with your gorgeous silver locks!

So sorry about your funk, and also your kitty loss. We lost one of our beloved pugs in December and the loss is still fresh. It never goes away of course but time is the only healer. Just think of the wonderful times you shared together and know you were THE BEST parent and BEST friend that Opie could ever ask for.

Good for you on the healthy changes!!!

I'm really glad you are back blogging.

A very inspiring post Tascha. Thanks for your wisdom.

I too am letting the grey come and feel much more authentic because of it. Being authentic has taken me back to a style of artwork I did as a child. I look forward to see what your transition brings out in your work.

Hiya! I've become a plant based eater too! Sept 1. I watched "Forks ove Knives" and then "The Last Heart Attack" on CNN. They pushed me over. I do feel so much better. Don't forget to take a B12 supplement!

HI Tasha, I'm so happy to see you blogging again. Sorry about Opie (I too lost my kitty, Luka, Dec 2009) It's difficult losing a longtime companion. I've also made changes in my diet in the past few months and I want to recommend another great film, " Forks Over Knives". Wishing you and yours a Happy 2012!
