Cake!

Yesterday was my Nana's 90th birthday! Here is the WHOLE family. Is my family tiny or what? Both my parents are only children and I am an only child too! Nana still goes to the mall everyday and lives in her own apartment. Pretty amazing isn't it?
In the spirt of birthday's and cake I did this LARGE painting for an upcoming show. It is 18 x 24 inches on thick canvas.
I wanted the colors on this one to be very mellow and "shabby chic". Yummy cake colors.

Bonjour Tascha! You are very lucky to still have one of your nanas. I miss both mine who passed away the same year I was pregnant with my son. I loved them so ... and miss them so ... This large painting is my favorite so far, it is exquisite! Take care, LuLu

Hi Tascha...Love your family photo and the precious birthday painting! Did you partake in the cake, or is it off limits with your new regimen? I'd have to indulge. Your Nana looks like a doll and sounds quite spunky! Thanks for sharing.

Haha! I actually didn't have any cake. I don't really like that kind of cake. Too rich for me.
I don't consider cake off limits though. Just chocolates and candy. I still haven't had any of those! YAY!

Hey Tascha! Happy photo!
My parents were both only children too. So no cousins, aunts and uncles for me BUT I do have two brothers.
I have always wanted a sister.
LOVE your new painting!

What is the wonderful technique that you use Tascha to get that antique feel on some paintings? It makes it look slightly old and cracked. Whatever it is, I have to try it on some of my work!

Bellisima, Tascha!
Beautiful Nana and exquisite painting. Mellow gold gown, perfect pink toned cake and table cloth paired with the delicate balance of both these colors in the face against the soft blue is absolutely poetic. This will be quite a presence at the upcoming show.
