Cat Cameo Ladies!

Let me introduce you to the "Cat Cameo Ladies"!
I decided to do a little series for fun :)
I wanted to make a series of paintings with an old fashion feel. The thought of adding cameos on all the ladies that housed images of cats seemed purrrr-fect to me. meow

So far there are three paintings in this series:




Just something a little different to keep things fresh. They are pretty paintings for Spring time.

Sing a song

Hello beautiful people!
How has your day been going? Did you watch American Idol tonight? I like to watch it. It makes me happy to see people picked from out of nowhere become stars. Isn't it amazing that there are these people out there with amazing talent, that have it bottled up inside of them? They just needed a break. An opportunity! That is how I feel about ebay and etsy. It is so amazing that people can be given the opportunity to be able to sell their creations worldwide! People who would otherwise be doing a job that stifles their creativity.

I was really touched by the performance of a man named Paul Potts a couple of years ago on the show "Britain's got talent". He worked as a telephone sales person and had an amazing singing voice that no one knew he had! Here is a clip of him on the tv show. I am mentioning him because I just found out he will be singing in the same building that I go to the post office! I saw the sign last week. I am going to go, and see him sing, and cheer!!!

This year there is a darling lady named Susan Boyle who was on the same program. She is such a sweetheart! I just love her!!! You can see the clip of her singing here. Isn't she awesome? I heard that they wanted to give her a makeover and she refused! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Natural foods

I think it is something about the weather getting nicer that draws me to eating better. Lately I have been trying very hard to only eat real food. By "real" I mean an actual carrot, broccoli, banana... you get the idea. I want to eat something natural. Today I put a banana in the blender with milk and a little honey and that was breakfast! All natural. Nothing out of a box or can. I have carrot sticks for snacks, rice (not the minute kind)... I just want to eat things that aren't processed. So today I had a nice articoke as a snack. I love love love artichokes! If you've never cooked one here is a good website with info: Click here
I cook mine and dip them in melted butter and lemon juice. I don't really like the way the ones soaked in oil taste that are in jars.
So that is what is new with me. I am just trying to eat better.

Harbourfront

Today was such a beautiful day that I thought I would head down to the Harbourfront. I really like it there! I think I *might* move there. It is so peaceful and fresh!
I brought my camera to show you a couple of pictures. You can click on the pictures to make them big.


See all the condos? Wouldn't it be a nice place to live? Watching the boats sail by...


PLUS there is a HUGE arts and crafts center there! I went in and there are studios of jewelry silversmithing and glass blowing. So cool!

It was a bit chilly, so I got inspired to paint this new painting hee hee:



I also painted another oval canvas. This time it is Little Red and baby wolf. He hasn't got his sharp teeth yet :)

Spring is in the air!

I think soon it will be nice enough for me to wear my shorty coat outside!
My goodness, it seems like forever since I bought that jacket! I'm looking forward to wearing it!
In the spring mood I painted my newest painting Babushka and bear under the spring time trees. It is on an OVAL canvas! I love the feeling it gives on the oval canvas.

I've also been having fun making wee little aceo watercolor paintings.

This time it's Frida!

Sounds like Epson is the one to buy! I will have to go looking.

Scanner suggestions?

Hi Y'all!
Thanks so much for all your sweet comments on the ACEO's I made today. I can't believe how much time I invested in trying to get a good photo of them. My scanner doesn't want to scan them right. Can you suggest a good scanner for me? I'd love to do more drawings, in both pencil and pen & ink, but my scanner can't seem to process the image right. I used my camera to take pictures of the art cards, but it is hard to get the detail in the pictures. They are quite sweet in real life. I've put them up for auction on ebay as quick little 3 day auctions.
If you know of a good scanner that will work with a MAC computer let me in on it :)

ACEOs

Today I played around with some paper cut to ACEO size ( Artist Trading Card size 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches).
I used pencil and watercolors. I liked how they turned out, but it was quite difficult to get a good photo of them due to the texture of the paper and the subtle watercolor tones. I will try and get some photos on later.

I have a lovely Frida Kahlo painting on ebay. She is sitting pretty with her little Chihuahua next to her.



I also have this funny one of a Babushka taking her chicken out for a walk! I did this one in my old painting style with heavy black lines. It is up for grabs on ebay as ONLY a 3 DAY auction!



Last but not least, I have added this lil' red and wolf painting as a print in my etsy shop.

Birdies!

Hello beautiful people!
Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my last post. I really appreciate every comment you send. It makes my day!

Today I am going to show you a couple of birdie paintings I have made. This is my newest,
Miss Babushka is introducing her kitty to some birds. He looks a little too over anxious to hug them doesn't he?



In this one Babushka's ARE the birds! The best of both worlds :)

Redhead dollie

Here she is! My newest little girlie. She's a redhead!
She's a little cutie. A bit smaller than my last doll. I like her tiny size.
Looks like she likes talking on the phone too!

She will be on etsy at 6pm est.





For those of you wondering if I still have grey hair... I do! Here is a picture I took while I was out taking pictures of the doll today. I actually have a lot of nerve taking this picture....I have BED HEAD!!! LOL! Oh well! To tell you the truth, "bed head" and "non-bed head" look pretty much the same.



I still struggle with dealing with going grey, but I seem to get more and more comfortable with the idea everyday.

I loved that doll. It was so cool. A lady who worked at my dad's office made it for me. I loved her long legs and orange yarn hair. I played with her the most out of all my dolls.

I am showing just the legs of a doll I finished today. Looks like she is planning a trip somewhere!
I only have one doll to put up on etsy tomorrow. The other two weren't quite right. Poor dollies, I hope I don't give them a complex!

Friday night doll making

I broke out the sewing machine today! The sewing machine and I have an "on-again-off-again" kind of relationship :)
I thought I'd make 3 dolls today. Here they are on my ironing board before I finished stuffing and sewing them:



Those little arms and legs of theirs put me through my paces! It is always a lesson in patience when I sew LOL!

I think I will wait until tomorrow to finish with painting their faces.

How has your April's Fools been?
No fooling around here. I usually try and trick Morgan, but I couldn't think of anything this year. Did anyone get you?

I didn't get the condo. My offer was too low. Oh well, it was worth a shot! Maybe next time :)
