Painting LARGE

Lately I have been experimenting with painting LARGE. I am known for my little paintings, so this is something new. I love painting small because I can really get right into the painting and focus. Working big is a whole different feeling! I have to really look around and use my whole arm to paint instead of just my hand.

Painting large means using bigger brushes and larger brush strokes.

It is challenging and sometimes I feel I have to tone down my usual palette because it becomes over powering at such a large scale.

For fun, I am trying out some abstract paintings. I really love it!

I like trying this new art style, but I think I will continue to paint small for the most part. You can always find my new artwork in my etsy shop

Just one more post about these bags!

Am I swooning over these Society6 bags or what? I have 6 of them, and I keep getting "just one more". I take my envelopes and packages to the post office in them and I love the burst of happy color it brings to my post office trips. Just thought I'd share one of pic of me lovin' on my totes :)

Society6 bags

Yesterday I was rushing to the post office with all my packages. I love love love to put my packages in one of my many Society6 bags. Well, today I had my Mermaid Bag, and some nice young man said "I like that bag" as he walked by. It made my day! I couldn't believe he actually went out of his way to tell me. Go to the post office everyday can be a chore, but it feels a little more fun when I have one of my fancy art bags to join me :) All of my bags can be found here at Society6.

Porcelain vessels

I finally finished my little series of porcelain vessels. All hand embellished with heat set porcelain paints. So much fun! I made a little series of mini vases and also little tiny planters, perfect size for tiny succulents!

They are available in my etsy shop right now :)

Mini abstracts of love!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

I am still full steam ahead in Valentine mode. I thought I'd try something a bit different and I added a bit of LOVE to some tiny abstract paintings :)

So small, but so bursting with juicy color and love! Little hearts in each one. They are available right now in my etsy shop. I love changing things up and creating different medias and styles. I am still totally into my drawing on ceramics. I have added painting on them as well. The paint is baked in the oven to make it become a glaze that will stand the test of time!

Wishing you a lovely day! xoxo

Frida on a mini vase

I thought I'd give Pebeo Porcelain Paint pens a try. I bought this sweet little mini vase and I pictured frida's head in it with flowers surrounding her braided hair :)

I absolutely LOVE ceramics, and this makes for a nice and easy way to work with them. I have always adored Picasso's ceramic work:

Picasso has always been a great inspiration to me! This pot he created is just the coolest!

2014 all-in-one illustrated calendar

It all started with a little drawing time for myself. I wanted to get back into a simple black and white pen and ink drawing. I decided I would try my hand at a full page calendar for 2014. Above you can see how the sketch began. It is very challenging for me to work without COLOR!

I worked on cold pressed illustration board using black ink. In the end I felt the harsh black and white was to dramatic for what I had in mind, so I decided to have the calendar printed on beige paper to tone down the contrast.

Then for fun I chose to change her lips to red in photoshop. Just one little burst of color :)

My 2014 one page calendar can be found in my ETSY SHOP

Hugs!

Happy NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! I just wanna grab my guitar like the little cutie above and sing my heart out! I love new beginnings, don't you? What a year ahead! I am going to be one of the teachers at this years 2014 LIFEBOOK! What a blast that is going to be! Are you in?

I've been keeping busy creating paintings about LOVE for this upcoming Valentine's day. My favorite holiday.

Hugs to all!
