drawing on paper mache boxes

I have been having fun lately painting and drawing on paper mache boxes. You can find them in most craft stores. Previously I have completely covered the box in gesso and then painted it as I would a canvas. Here is an example of a box I painted with Frida on it:

I thought I would try something out of my comfort zone and try drawing on the box in an illustrative way using just ink:

I was *going* to leave it as is, just an ink drawing....but I couldn't resist adding to it. I pulled in the reins as best I could and just added some black ink for her top, and red for the roses. I painted the background white and added a crackle finish with an antique wash. I am happy with the results:

Student Work from Modigliani Class

I wanted to show you the AMAZING work that has been produced over at my "Learning with Tascha" on line school. These fantastic paintings were created in the Modigliani Class! New ornaments!

Yep, I'm in Christmas mode :)

I know it is a bit early, but it all evens out when shipping is involved :) I like to make sure I get a good head start so that I can rest easy that everyone gets their packages way before Christmas.
I have brand new ornaments in my etsy shop! They are made from porcelain and are shiny goodness. A reproduction of one of my paintings is on each one. I just love them!

What makes them EXTRA cool is that you can hang them on a nail on the wall and they become this interesting little mini painting. LOVE IT!

My on line school is now open, PLUS a give-away!!!

I am so excited to show off my newly renovated "virtual" on-line art school called "Learning with Tascha". I have offered classes in the past, but only one class at a time. Now I have done some "virtual renovating" and have turned it into an on line art school with a few different classes all happening at the same time. Everyone is together in one spot and can share ideas and photos with each other. I'm really excited about this. All the old favorite classes are back! If you missed one the first go-around, it's available now!

I have my first on-line class "drawing cute characters" where I teach how to draw little girls and animals in all kinds of different poses. There is the return of the "watercolor class that has a bunch of different projects all done in watercolor techniques. My wildly popular Modigliani Class is back! It is a great class focusing on the style of Modigliani. The paintings produced in this class blew me away. Finally I just released my newest class "Cute Characters 2.0" where we take the previous drawing class to the next level and learn all about adding color to those cute characters.

I wanted to do a little giveaway to celebrate the opening of the school. I have one fun little pencil case made from my artwork to giveaway. I thought it was fitting because it is for school :)

Have you heard of Society6? Well, it is a fabulous website that allows artist to share their artwork and Society6 puts it on different merchandise. I just love it! I have bought a few things for myself. I got my Frida and Diego in BOTH the pillow cover and the bag :)

Wooden Vintage Style Ladies

Every now and then I like to experiment with different ways of making art. I have recently enjoyed painting in a more "realistic" style. I find it very challenging in a different way than when I use my imagination to paint my character paintings. I thought I would take my realistic painting style one step further and paint them on cut out wood instead of a canvas. Here are the results :)

Love of Music art show

A couple of weeks ago I participated in a fun group art show. The theme was music. I chose to paint Frida as an Angel flying around the clouds playing a tune on a flute :)

There were so many interesting paintings in the show. It's always fun to have a group of people paint the same theme and see all the different ideas that come out of it.

I can't believe how quickly this summer has been going! It's almost fall!

I am LOVIN' getting this new class ready! Modigliani is my very favorite artist and has been a huge influence on my artwork. There will be mixed media techniques and actual painting techniques too! Something for everyone in this class. Stay tuned for sign up details!

Something different
