My mom came to visit me and we had a blast laughing and carrying on. She brought with her some old photos of me when I was little. I loved these two of me doing some arts and crafts.
Here I am hand sewing something, probably a little doll or puppet. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I was always making something:
You know something? I still sit on my feet like that. My mom gets so upset that I still do this. She is worried about me getting a clot in my leg or something. She is probably right, but I just can't stop sitting like this!
Here I am doing a watercolor painting:
Picasso is quoted as saying "All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. "
This is so true. The ease that children possess in creating is so beautiful and natural. It is difficult to maintain that free expression as an adult, but I try. I always try to just let go and tap into my inner child.
With that said, I am proud to show my inner child that I made it into a magazine with her art.
Here is a photo of me at the local bookstore tonight with the Artful Blogging magazine that I am in.

This is a wonderful post! I love that Picasso quote, and it is so very true. Congrats again on the magazine!
p.s. - sitting on my legs like that is the only way I am comfortable to paint!
I love that quote...and your inner child shows in all your art Tascha! :)
Tascha,
You mentioned sitting on your legs. I was reading a book about ADHD that asserts that ADHD can be caused by a reflex in our bodies that never goes away from when we are babies, that should go away if we crawl enough. One of the symptoms is sitting on your legs. I have sat on my legs for as long as I can remember. I even broke blood vessels in my left leg from sitting on those hard chairs in the desks in school when I was young. Supposedly, when you sit on your legs, you trap the reflex and it doesn't bother you as much. The book is called "Stopping ADHD" by Cook and O'Dell. They have earned PhDs in education in the USA. The book has crawling exercises in it that help get rid of this reflex and make you more comfortable when you sit. I have done about half the exercises in the book. They have really helped me, not only be more comfortable sitting, but also with my memory. They have a website www.stoppingadhd.com if anyone is interested, although you can get all the info you need from the book.

That's so true! I'm still looking for that child I miss so much...
I love that post.
Your child-photos are wonderful, and it´s so true what you wrote about the inner child.
We all should try to let it free.
I have to smile when I read thst your mother is upset about the way you sit on your knees.
No matter how old we become, we will still be the little children of our mummies. And isn´t that wonderful. Have a lovely wekend

I spent the afternoon yesterday HUNTING for THE magazine. I came home victorious! It's a great issue and I love knowing that any time of the day I can pick it up and see Red Riding Hood and the others! So exciting for you! Hope that you won't have to start hiding under a babushka from the paparazzi when you go out.
Congrats on the article in Artful Blogging! I love the photos of you as a little girl, such cute dimples!
That Picasso quote is one of my favorites, too. So glad you never lost your inner child. Your art has the childlike magic.
You and your mom are gorgeous! I absolutely love Modigliani, too. Lucky you to see an original! Toronto is such a terrific city.

Congratulations Tascha! What a gorgeous child you were. I justlove that you still have ringlets and dimples. You are adorable. I believe your inner child comes through to your paintings. The joyful colors and all things we love like kittens, puppies and birds. Keep up the great work. Your art always brings me such joy. I love my Frida painting. It hangs in my workshop. The colors make me happy and I put it in a black frame so it really pops.
Hugs~
Tammy
These pictures of you are just unbearably sweet! -Elaina
