Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way!

Well I was just as surprised as you to realize that Easter is in 2 weeks! I made this funny little painting called "negotiating for eggs" tonight and I realized that I better make it a 3 day auction so that it could arrive in time for Easter.
I've been doing a lot of negotiating lately....I put an offer in on a condo! I'm not sure if I'll get it, I will find out tomorrow night.

Ahh the sun was shining so nicely today~
The kitties were sitting by the window watching the pigeons. I decided to make a little dolly.

Honey Bear

Hello sweet bloggers!
Today our babushka friend is having tea time with a big bear friend of hers. He prefers to have honey instead of tea. Quite the sweet tooth he has! I love tea too. I really enjoy Yogi Tea because you get a little fortune of sorts on the tag of the tea bag. They are often very thought provoking. My favorite flavor is Egyptian Licorice. I like to put a bit of honey in my tea too. Me and big bear would get along great!

I hope the start to everyone's Spring has started out well. It was rather sunny this weekend, but still quite cool. I am really looking forward to the weather getting warm. I listed a new Frida painting tonight. She has a cat around her shoulders! I think he is trying to grab that very oversized bird!

Hi Beautiful people!
Looks like Lil' Red found a way to get from point A to point B a whole lot faster!

Bird watching

Opie didn't need any coaxing to talk today! He was all a buzz about the birds out on the balcony. Lily was quiet. She's the shy one :)

Paper and paste

Today I did a mixed media painting with ripped up pieces of paper from French book. I pasted the pieces down with gel medium. I used a black pen to draw the picture. No sketching, all done in just one solid stroke. Hence the odd looking eyes :)
Then, like a coloring book, I filled in the lines with acrylic paint. I finished it off with an antique wash around the sides.

Thank you all for your comments on the kitties on newspaper and books! I see you all can relate. Opie and Lily are sleeping right now like little Angels. (they are resting up to become maniacs when I turn the lights out tonight!)

Cats and reading material

What's the deal with cats and books, magazines, and newspapers? If you lay a newspaper on the kitchen table, a kitty will quickly come over and lay right down on the middle of it. Whenever I cozy into bed and start to read my newest art magazine, there's Lily or Opie sticking their heads underneath it! I have come to the conclusion that, they just want to be read to! All kitties love a good story.

An Irish Blessing

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner! I am part Irish so this holiday is special to me.
I wanted to share an Irish Blessing with you:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

In celebration of St. Patty's Day I painted a sweet little girl who found a four leaf clover!

Seal Point Siamese

Did you know that all siamese cats are white when they are born? They are! They slowly develop their "points" as they age. The color is darkest in areas where their body heat isn't as warm.
I have 2 siamese cats, a flame point (Opie) and a seal point (Lily). I talk a lot about Opie, so today I want to talk about Lily.
Here is a picture of Lily when she was still a kitten. See how light her fur was back then?
(P.S. I gave her the yarn for the photo and took it away right after I took the picture. Cats should never play with string because they can swallow it.)

Now that she is 3 her fur has gotten very dark. It was really interesting to be able to slowly see it change color over time.
This is my newest painting inspired by Lily.
She's a "nervous siamese". Very jumpy, but we love her and spoil her all the same.

Chatting up a storm

It is SO COLD here lately. So the best thing to do is to stay inside and talk to your friends on the phone! I actually talk to my Mom every single day on the phone. Many times a day actually :)
