Today I did a mixed media painting with ripped up pieces of paper from French book. I pasted the pieces down with gel medium. I used a black pen to draw the picture. No sketching, all done in just one solid stroke. Hence the odd looking eyes :)
Then, like a coloring book, I filled in the lines with acrylic paint. I finished it off with an antique wash around the sides.
Thank you all for your comments on the kitties on newspaper and books! I see you all can relate. Opie and Lily are sleeping right now like little Angels. (they are resting up to become maniacs when I turn the lights out tonight!)
Hugs to all!
"French Girl with Striped Cat" is up for grabs on ebay.
I've tried paper and paste and just can't get anywhere with it. It looks great and so colorful. Thx for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical & lovely X:-)
ReplyDeleteshe is beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteboujour,
ReplyDeletethis concept is very nice.
i really like ur antique wash n the splatter effect tht u ve created in other paintings.but how do u giv this kinda antique wash.
i ve learned a totally different way of giving antique washes.
anyways the french girl n the kitty r lookin lovely on these paper cuttings.
For the antique wash, I use a diluted brown acrylic paint and apply it lightly with a dry brush.
ReplyDeleteI love this technique! So cute!

No! The wonky eyes are good!
ReplyDeleteLove this new look.
You're making me smile again!
This is so charming and I love the simpllicity of it. I have collected your work in the past from ebay! And thekitty thing with the papers, etc, so true!!

Bonjour Tascha! Oooooh! I just love this painting which is quite different from your other style of images! My 5 cats are actually driving me nuts! When 2 want to go outside, 3 want to come in. Then 5 minutes later, it's switch time! And of course, same here, as soon as the light goes off, the party starts! I can't wait for mild weather to be here, they will be spending more time outside and I too! Have a great weekend! LuLu
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling piece! Love the antique effect....

It's Lovely! I like the new technique with your usual style still there. I like the eyes. It gives me more confidence to finish a piece I've had in the works for a while. The eyes on it are a bit "wonkey" but now I will finish it because the rest of it is turning out fine.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy I found you and your art! I love it all, it makes me feel so cheerfull!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteLove this Tascha. I like her eyes and the cat's eyes . It's a happy painting !
ReplyDeleteWell, this may be just the inspiration I need to play with those collage panels of mine made with ripped Italian pages!
ReplyDeleteHmmm ...
Love this! You are so spectacular with paint!:)
ReplyDeleteTasha ~ I love the simplicity of this piece. It's hard, for me, to say "when" and know the piece is finished. This is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the collage! Something new for you!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I've tried it too and it' pretty hard. It's difficult to get the control you want for details. I think you did an awesome job. It's definitely a technique I would need to practice, practice, practice!
