Love is in the air. Soon it will be Valentine's Day. I really love (no pun intended...okay maybe a bit of a pun) Valentine's day. I love making Valentine's Day art. Pinks and reds and lots of hearts.
I've been pretty busy getting some deadlines done. I'm working away on the Author's Series paintings. They are going to look great as a collection of cards. I also am working away on the Sketchbook Project.

It's a good way to just let loose and try different techniques. The sketchbook project is an interested art show featuring art from around the world. They are going to be bringing all the journals to Toronto, I can't wait!
I have a new Valentine's Day painting over at My Etsy Shop. Frida with one of her loves, her kitty!

The Authors Series

Hello Friends!As you may already know, I've been working with the greeting card company Allport Editions for close to 10 years now. My current line of cards are really fun! It's called the "authors series" and features my rendition of famous authors painted on wood with collage papers added.

These cards are doing well in museums and gift shops. I throughly enjoyed painting them! If you are interested in getting a pack of these cards the company Bas Bleu sells them on-line.Now I am starting work on a brand new authors series. So many authors, so little time...haha...Here is a preview of Charles Dickens:

Today I would like to talk about "natural beauty". Beauty that comes from within. Deep in the soul and radiates out like sunshine. This is what I strive for. I want to be beautiful on the inside....both spiritually and health wise. I want my body to be healthy and functioning at an optimum level. I want my inner peace to shine. This is a tough battle living in a society where looks are everything. The exterior. I am constantly having to *explain* my grey hair to people. They will ask things like "why don't you dye your hair?" and "What's going on with your hair?" or "what happened to your hair?" I say "I like it like this" and of course, they look at me like I'm crazy.

I know about hair dye. Yes, I've heard of it before. In fact, in college I had my hair purple. I liked being different....and I guess I still do. I like being a rebel with my grey hair. I like going against the grain of societies norms. But more than that, I like being natural. I am proud of who I am. This is me. My grandmother had snow white hair, she went grey early too. I feel a kinship knowing the grey hair "gene" was passed down to me. This connection I feel is far stronger than what some fashion magazine says I should do.

Sure, I may look "older" than I would if I dyed my hair chestnut brown.....but does that matter? Age is wisdom. Age is love. Age is enlightenment. As I get older I feel so much more compassionate and insightful. Why try and hide that by looking younger and less experienced? ;)

This is my life. I choose to look like this. I want to focus on my mind, body and spirit. It is all that matters.

I have a lot to say on this topic that can't be covered in just one post. I will post more later. But for today I want to leave you with this photo of a beautiful woman.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yes, I've been gone for a while....what? A year or two? I was kind of taking time off. My kitty-love-of-my-life Opie died in 2010. I got into a bit of a funk after that. Some may find it strange to be so attached to an animal. Those people must have never met a cat like Opie. He was magical. One in a million.

I decided to start fresh for 2012. I am taking on a whole new way of eating, and I might try a whole new way of doing art too! I am so excited about nutrition! I am reading all kinds of books on it, I just can't get enough! I bought a juicer and that is my new thing. Everyday I make juice. Carrot, apple and ginger. It is sooooo tasty and sooooo good for you too! I am eating raw greens and all real whole foods. I'm staying away from anything processed. No canned, packaged, frozen or fast food for me. I'm *trying* to cut out sugar. I think I'm doing pretty good. I am also not eating meat. I feel so strongly about my love for animals and I just don't think I can eat them anymore. I had been weening myself off of meat for a while now. But I think this is it. No more. I want to get myself well. I bought a movie on itunes called Food Matters. I highly recommend watching it. They said something in the video that really resonated with me. It was "the body can heal itself." What, what? For some reason I never fully knew this, or believed it....Now that I do, I am going to do everything in my power to heal myself. I want to be healthy and strong. Here is the movie off of youtube. This is going to be a very exciting year over here in my little studio! 2011 is the year my licensed line of merchandise will be hitting the shelves! WOO HOO!
Over a year ago, giant gift developer DEMDACO contacted me and asked me to join their team. What a blessing! I have been working with them ever since to help develop a line of merchandise called ...... are you ready?
TASCHA'S WORLD LOL! Yep. Welcome to my world :)

There will be a lot of Christmas ornaments for next years Christmas as well as other goodies. I am so excited! Currently my line of merchandise is at the Atlanta Gift Show for all the buyers to see. The weather in Ontario Canada is wild and wooly. Here in Toronto though, it hasn't been too bad. In Southern Ontario where my parents live it has been white-out conditions almost every day! My parents have a little dog named Flossie. This is her very first winter. Guess what? She LOVES IT! That's right! She thinks it's great!
Check out the picture below of Flossie digging threw the snow to get at the bird seed on the ground! She digs in the snow every time she goes outside. Face first with no worries in the world. She comes out of it covered in snow from head to toe :)

As you can see, little Flossie is making an appearance in some of my paintings. She is just so darn cute!

I am getting into the holiday spirit already! You can never be too early getting started, it saves you a lot of stress by being ready early :)

Above is a painting I did of a sweet forest girl with a baby reindeer. She's so sweet! I wish I had her outfit for Christmas day.

My mom got a new puppy this year! Her name is Flossie and she is a great inspiration.

I thought, who better than Flossie to be the sleigh puller for a sweet little girl Santa.

Feeding the squirrels

Sundays are the days we go to the grocery store. One thing I buy is whole grain bread with nuts and seeds in it. Then when I get home, I take the old stale bread and go to the park and feed the birds with it. I felt like the squirrels were missing out, so while I was at the grocery store I got a bag of peanuts and fed them too. They are so cute. I was inspired to paint the above painting because of my last trip to the park - (pictured below)

I must say, it is getting chilly outside. As you can see from my photo, it is fall, yet I am wearing my winter coat! The cool crisp air inspired my other newest painting below:

The cooler weather has set in around here. I wore my winter coat the other day for the first time since last winter. It's fall and with fall come HALLOWEEN!

When I was a little girl my mom had the most beautiful typewriter. It is was a turquoisey-blue color. Just like the one here on flickr. I had fun typing little stories using both the black and red ink. Winding the ribbon and getting ink on my fingers.

In high school I took two years of "typing"...and it was on both manual and electric typewriters. It makes me feel SO OLD to think that they still had MANUAL typewriters when I was in high school! Of course all this learning to type was intended for use on typewriters,. Boy did I luck out that I can use those skills I learned on that old dinosaur for my computer now! I can type like the wind thanks to all those "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" exercises.

Square Foot Art

Last month I took part in AWOL gallery's square foot show. The art show consists of hundreds of paintings from artists, all of them created in a one foot by one foot square format. Then, all these "square foot" canvases are arranged in a grid on the walls of the gallery. There are so many wonderful ideas there!

I entered 2 paintings. One of Frida on her bike, and one of a gypsy fortune teller. Frida sold, and now I am offering the fortune teller up for grabs on ebay!

Wrestle Mania!

One thing I've learned about cats is, they love to act crazy in the night! As soon as I turn the lights off Lily starts tearing around the apartment like a maniac. We now have a ritual of wrestling at bedtime. I get her food out for the night, put down fresh water for her, turn out the lights and then we WRESTLE! She loves it! The plus side is it gets her tuckered out and ready to sleep the night through. My newest painting shows me and Lily doing our nightly wrestle. Below is a photo of Lily when she was just a kitten wrestling with a little pink purse toy I got her. :)

Bedtime Stories

I like to read in bed. It calms my mind down and makes me sleepy. My cat Lily always snuggles behind my legs when I'm reading. She knows I'll be still for a long time so she makes herself comfortable.

I got a new comforter. It has pretty red cherry blossoms all over it. I loved the way it looked like a drawing so I had to get it. Lily made herself right at home on it. (She is making a silly face!)

Meet my mom's new little baby puppy Flossie! Isn't she just the cutest little thing?!!!
My mom found an ad on the internet of someone wanting to give up their puppy because they didn't have enough time for her. My mom fell in love with her sweet little face and rushed over to their house to adopt her! YAY! Now Flossie has the BEST home in the world!

Here is Flossie in my mom's garden. Do you seen Monet in the background? My mom painted that!
Flossie loves to be out in the flowers and sometimes she even digs in the garden. My mom calls her a "tomboy" because of this :)

I was inspired by sweet little Flossie and put her in a babushka :)

A different kind of painting

Lately I've been doing a lot of painting. Not the canvas kind though, I've been painting walls! I finally got a condo!
I had been looking for a year, and lost out on many of them. Finally the perfect one came along and I wasn't about to let some ugly walls ruin the deal. I have taken on the big job of painting all the walls.
I decided to go with a color scheme of my cat Lily. Cream, taupe and blue. Plus my black furniture will add to the whole siamese feel. So far I have the walls painted cream and my bedroom is blue. The sun room will be taupe.
In the photo above, I wanted to see what a big babushka painting would look like :) I painted it just for fun before I finished painting the wall.

Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!

WOW! Is it ever HOT here!!! We are on day 4 of a heat wave here in Toronto. I am soooo grateful to have air conditioning. Just walking to the post office wipes me out. It's like an oven out there!

When I was a kid I would swim in the pool at our condo every single day. I swam like a fish. Now that I have to wear glasses 24/7 I can't go swimming. Plus, I don't like what the chlorine does to my skin and hair.

Back then I didn't care! My hair was knotted and bleached out from the sun. I remember I had a swim suit that had little Canadian maple leaves down the sides. I was SO TANNED that where those little white leaves were I got a tan. Little tanned maple leaves down my sides. I remember I also had a barbie doll that would tan in the sun. Do you remember that doll? I can't remember her name, but she was so cool! After about 10 minutes in the sun, the barbie would have tan lines.

Wild and Wooly

Well folks, it's been a wild and wooly few days here in Toronto. First off we had an earthquake here. Not a big one, but one big enough to make the pictures on my wall swing back and forth. One big enough to make my cat Lily's tail puff up in fear for 10 minutes. I have been through 2 other earthquakes and none lasted as long as this one. It was probably about 15 seconds long. The others I felt lasted about 5 seconds. It kind of freaked me out that it wasn't stopping right away. No harm was done and everything went right back to normal.

Then the G20 summit came to town...

The above photo is taken from my balcony. It was taken moments before the riots broke out. You may have heard about the riots. They were all happening right outside my home. A little nerve racking to say the least.
I am hoping that tomorrow everything will be back to normal and I can go back to my day to day life. Minus any natural disasters or mass hysteria :)

I have had many people ask me if I do paintings of boys over the years. I always said....no, but I might try one day. I was comfortable painting little girls with their long eyelashes, rosy cheeks and red lips. Boys just seemed a bit too "plain" for me to be able to pull off. BUT I give it a try. I think these little guys are pretty darn cute after all!
Boys don't have to be all about frogs and snails and puppy dog tails :)

Mail Me Art Project

A little while ago I took part in the "Mail Me Art Project".
It's a cool project where artists mail in an envelope that IS the art. The art is on the outside! I always have loved to dress up letters and packages. Although, when I send out my artwork to buyers I usually forgo the artistry on the packaging because I don't want anything to slow down the packages arrival through the post office :) I leave all the fun stuff for the inside in those packages.

I decided I'd make my envelope a painting of Little Red Riding Hood with Mr. Wolf. They are holding up a sign with the mailing address on it :) I thought it was pretty cool when they chose my art to use in a blog post about the event. You can see it HERE.

Everyone's envelope art is going to be shown in an art show in London England. You can keep up with the festivities on their facebook page.

I have my fingers crossed that they will add mine to the MAIL ME ART BOOK. I will keep you posted if they do!

I won't be reprinting some of the older designs, so get those while you can if there are some you've had your eye on. I have been adding brand new designs quite regularly. Well, I didn't get the condo. My bid was "the lowest, and considered kind of funny compared to the other offers"....which is weird, since I offered them their asking price. Apparently the condo sold for $20,000 OVER their asking price. So, I guess my offer was kind of funny :)
I'm starting to feel a bit like a little fish swimming with a bunch of big sharks!
It's a bummer. I had myself living there in my mind's eye. I knew where all my furniture would go, I could see the cats sun bathing by the window. Then *poof* gone. Oh well, I'm quite happy where I am so that's okay with me :)

I thought I'd show you a couple of pages of my little sketchbook just for fun.
I noticed this was a project I wanted to do in March '09! So many projects, so little time.

HI beautiful people!
I've been busy lately! But I'm kind of spinning my wheels. If anything actually comes to fruition I will tell you :)
For instance, I am bidding on a condo tomorrow....again....
Real estate here is played out like ebay, but on steroids. You see, for some crazy reason, here in Toronto you put a "bid" in to buy a home and the highest bid gets it. (Well in downtown Toronto anyway) It's not just any auction, it's a "blind auction", so you don't know what anyone else is bidding. I have a tendency to bid too low and lose out :P
Ah well, one of these days I'll snag one at a good price, right?
So there you go. Things like that have been taking a lot of my time, but nothing really comes of it. Hopefully this time I will be lucky.

I thought I'd paint a babushka with little baby foxes. I guess they are called a kit, cub or pup. I like baby :)

Today was a nice sunny day! The temperature was ABOVE freezing by about 4 degrees and it's starting to smell like Spring :)
I know that the first day of Spring isn't until March 20th, but I am counting down the days! I'm all set to get my spring wardrobe out. I can't wait to spend days down at harbourfront , sitting on the dock watching the boats. Oh I can't wait! Today really made me feel like it is on it's way.

Sorry my blog posts have been a bit scarce lately. The world of technology keeps growing and there are more and more distractions. One of my big distractions is facebook :) I love seeing what everyone is up to at any given moment. But with these distractions I find that I start spreading myself a bit thin. I will try and keep up a regular amount of blog posts here on blogger.
If you don't already know, I do have what's called a "fan page" on facebook. It is really just a place where I can post what is new with me and my art.

I got my doll in the STUFFED magazine!

Hello friends!
So much has been happening the last month or so that I haven't had a chance to tell you about my doll in the newest STUFFED magazine!
I am so honored to have this doll in Stuffed! I made a little "visionary doll". In the same way people make "visionary walls" where they post images of what their hopes and goals are, I made a doll with that same concept.
It's a little MINI ME doll holding a little doll and a copy of STUFFED. It is a doll to help me express my dreams of getting something I made into a magazine.

There is a little story explaining the concept and instructions on how you too can make your own visionary doll :)

I was so happy to be made aware of a shop on etsy called "crafthope" that is helping raise money for the people effected by the earthquake in Haiti. I wanted to list an auction on ebay with money going to a charity for Haiti, but because I am in Canada, ebay USA wouldn't let me participate in their organized on-line charities. I was so happy to find out about craft hope!
100% of the money raised will be going to doctors without borders. Fellow Etsians are making a difference by donating their arts and crafts to this etsy shop (crafthope)

I was so surprised to see that in the newest issue of Somerset Studio "the art of mixed media and paper", a thank you note I sent them was added to their "letters to the editor" section at the front!

I sent Jenny Doh a thank you note for featuring me in the Artful Blogging magazine. Since it was Halloween at the time, I did a funny little drawing of a witch and her kitty flying over a city. I never expected to see it in a magazine! I was very thrilled when I did. What a wonderful surprise!
This particular issue is spectacular! I love the art in it so much! It is a must have.

Season's greetings from the North Pole (ie Toronto)!
Are you all keeping warm? Some of you are lucky enough to live down south. I wish I was somewhere warm right about now.
We actually don't have any snow on the ground, but it is very cold. I see so many places in the States that are filled with snow. I am surprised we have gone this long this winter without snow. I bet it will be coming soon! I have my boots all ready by the door when it does.

As I said in my last post, I am slowing down production here at Santa's workshop (errr I mean, my art studio), but I do have a new Frida painting just listed on ebay.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

It went from being quite a mild start to the winter season to darn chilly in one day! WOW! My face nearly froze off coming home from the post office!
That inspired a cozy Winter Angel painting. She is dressed for the cold winter wind and her cat knows to keep his ear covered...he should be covering both ears, but who am I to judge a cat's fashion sense?

I enjoyed painting the "Deer Frida" painting so much, I decided to try something the same only different :P

Birthday Wishes

Hello beautiful bloggers!
Today was my birthday :)
It started as an average day, with my usual trip to the post office.
At nnight though, I celebrated with Morgan. He took me out to the Korean Grill House. I like it there because you can cook your own food at the table. That's right, all tables have a built in bar-b-que! They bring you raw meat and you cook it. It's kinda gross with all that raw meat everywhere, but I like it anyway :)

I always worry that meat isn't cooked enough. At the Korean Grill, no need to worry, you do it yourself!

It was a lovely time. Morgan is always such a sweetheart.
We came home and I had my cake and ate it too :) I made a wish and blew out the candles.
(Opie wanted to blow them out before I got the chance, but he couldn't pucker his lip enough to do it)

I have a feeling that this upcoming year is going to be special.
Thank you all so much for always being here for me and encouraging me every step of the way.

Christmas is certainly on it's way! Last weekend Morgan and I went to the Santa Claus parade.
Here we have Santa's workshop. Do you think Santa will let me come work for him? I think he'd be a great employer. I would do it for the endless supply of candy canes alone!

Just like that, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! All the stores have already got their Christmas decorations up and this Sunday is the Santa Claus parade! Santa is already in town and he's checking his list. Talk about being organized! I have to hand it to Santa, he gets the job done!

This gypsy fortune teller has let me know that you can expect GOOD fortune in your future!

She is one of my newest paintings on ebay.
When I was a little girl I would often dress up as a gypsy for Halloween. I would wear my mom's big hoop earrings and a scarf on my head and Voila! I was a gypsy :)
This painting has shimmering gold stars all over and sparkly mica flakes in her crystal ball!

My history with Chihuahua's date back to when I was a toddler. My grandparents had a (somewhat larger than usual) chihuahua named Gwendolyn. Affectionally called Gwen or Gwenny also. Here is a picture of me and Gwenny sharing a footstool. Yes, that is a purse on my head. I was always doing something to bring a chuckle to my doting grandparents. A little comedian I was!
Gwendolyn and I had a bit of a rocky relationship in the beginning. She didn't much appreciate me sitting in her dog bed looking at a picture book when I was a few months old. I think she thought that because of my small size, that we were in competition for my grandparents attention. Even with the odd curled upper lip she gave me, she was a cute dog and the first dog in a long line of dogs who won my heart over the years.

Ladybug Ladybug

A couple of weeks ago, I looked out my balcony window and saw a ladybug. I thought "Oh wow! Today is going to be a lucky day!" I had a dentist appointment that I was a bit nervous about, and the ladybug made me feel like I had nothing to worry about.
I later found out that there is a strange over population of ladybugs right now. Oh well, that ladybug did bring me luck that day, as I did not freak out at the dentist :)
Then I remembered that old ladybug bracelet that I had. (pictured above) I had bought it when I first started selling art on ebay 8 years ago. I always thought it brought me a lot of luck. I wore it always. In the shower, sleeping, all the time. One day I noticed it was not on my wrist anymore. I was sad to think I had lost it somewhere. To my surprise, it showed up in the sleeve of my winter coat! One of the links had broke. I didn't bother to get it fixed and went years without wearing it. Last week (after seeing the ladybug on the balcony), I decided to get that link soldered so I could begin to wear it again. Twenty-three dollars later (a bit steep for one link to be soldered....but well worth the luck it will bring) I got it fixed and I'm back to wearing it. I must say, I'm already feeling lucky :)

I'm a bit of a "home-body". (Okay, maybe more than a bit)
I love being a home with my cats and painting. It's my little piece of paradise in this crazy concrete jungle called Toronto. I like to put on the radio and listen to old time jazz and loose myself in the music as I paint.
Tomorrow I am going to look at another condo, it's an open house. They are expecting a "bidding war", so I'm pretty sure I won't be getting this one. It's okay to look though, right? We shall see.....

I always intend to paint a lot of large paintings in the summer, the weather is nice enough for me to carry them to the post office. As winter rolls around, it because more difficult to haul a large painting in a box in the snow to the post office :)
I am going to try and get as many large paintings done in the next little while before the weather gets bad.

This is my newest painting. "Girl in striped shirt with cat". There are a lot of soft details and tonal ranges to this one. I tried a more modern approach to the figure.

Painting large

Hello Beautiful People!
Here in Canada this last weekend was Thanksgiving. I had a lovely time and cooked a nice meal. Opie and Lily enjoyed some turkey :)

I also had time to create this large portrait painting. I really enjoy painting large. It is so much more physical than the smaller works I do. You really have to stretch your arm when painting big. Plus I use different brushes, I find I can get a softer look on the larger paintings because of the bigger brushes. It allows for more room to push the paint around :)

It looks like we've hit the rainy season here in Toronto. It has rained a lot and will continue to. If the weather was warmer it would be perfect for planting. My newest painting has Frida planting some sunflowers. I actually LOVE LOVE LOVE sunflower sprouts, to eat! YUMMY! They are bigger than most sprouts and have a nutty taste. (By nutty, I mean taste like sunflower seeds, not nutty as in crazy! LOL!)

The rain has been so strong lately that I got myself a pair of these boots:

They are neon yellow! They are like little cartoon boots and that is what I like about them. I feel like a kid in them, and want to jump in puddles! They will certainly make going to the post office in the rain more enjoyable.

Bicycles

There is a strong bicycle community here in Toronto. The city is so congested that walking or cycling is the best way to get around. Today Morgan and I went for a little walk and all of a sudden I saw a giant Egyptian sculpture! (Click the photo to see it bigger)

I know Halloween is more than a month away, but the way time seems to be flying lately I feel I better get a jump on things :)
Opie and Lily will have to figure out what they want to be for Halloween this year.

A lot has been going on here in Toronto lately. There is the Toronto International Film Festival. I keep meaning to go to yorkville where all the celebrities are, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. The celebs will only be here for 3 more days so I better get with it! Rob Lowe (my teenage celebrity crush) was in town and I missed him! Darn it! I would love to see him in person. Maybe tomorrow I will go check out that area. It's right where Whole Foods is, so I can get some good snacks while I'm "star gazing".

Hi everyone!
My two newest paintings show the love we have for our animal friends :)

First is a good ol' game of fetch. Does your dog do this? Jump up and down in excitement waiting for you to throw the ball? I remember all the dogs I grew up with doing this. Also, the famous game of tug! They have the ball, you try to get it out of their mouth to throw it again and they won't let go. A tug of war begins. You finally give up and say "fine we won't play anymore", and they suddenly drop it. You go to pick it up and they grab it again! LOL!

Plus, I have Frida taking time from her tea break to give her kitty a hug. Cats love to get up on the table to see what's going on don't they?

Sorry it's been a while. Opie the wondercat has been hogging the computer. I catch him surfing the web for cat toys. Lily is his partner in crime. She's not as computer savvy so she sits on the side lines and makes requests for cat nip orders.

The Square Foot Art Opening

Tonight was the annual "Square Foot Art Show" from the AWOL Gallery here in Toronto. It was a blast! I got dressed up in my little polk-a-dot dress and headed out on this super muggy and hot August night to see the show.
The line up to get in went right around the block! They had a dj rockin' the tunes. So much beautiful art to look at.

I even had one lady come up to me who recognized me from my youtube videos! Isn't that cool? It was great to be out with so many people. I spend so much time here at home with just the cats, that it is nice to get out and mingle once in a while.
Oh, and the painting sold! That was an extra little happy surprise for me :)

The little crafter

My mom came to visit me and we had a blast laughing and carrying on. She brought with her some old photos of me when I was little. I loved these two of me doing some arts and crafts.

Here I am hand sewing something, probably a little doll or puppet. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I was always making something:

You know something? I still sit on my feet like that. My mom gets so upset that I still do this. She is worried about me getting a clot in my leg or something. She is probably right, but I just can't stop sitting like this!

Here I am doing a watercolor painting:

Picasso is quoted as saying "All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. "
This is so true. The ease that children possess in creating is so beautiful and natural. It is difficult to maintain that free expression as an adult, but I try. I always try to just let go and tap into my inner child.

With that said, I am proud to show my inner child that I made it into a magazine with her art.

Mama & Mondigliani

First off, a BIG THANK YOU! for all the sweet words of encouragement about the Artful Blogging article! You guys are truly the best! (((hugs)))

My Mom came here for a visit so I've been busy spending time with her. Today we went to the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario. The gallery has been re-designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry. It is so cool inside now!

My mom & I got our pictures taken inside the new addition to the art gallery. The security guard took the picture above.
Then as we went through a different section, I stumbled upon a Mondigliani that I LOVE!!! It is one that I have been inspired by MANY times. There it was, the original! I wanted my picture taken next to it, I knew not to use a flash, because I heard a flash can bleach out the paint over time. We took it (flashless), and all of a sudden a security guard pops up and got very angry! OPPS! So I guess no pictures of any kind are allowed in that section.
I'm glad I got it though :)

We had a lot of fun looking at all the art. There was a show on of surreal art including art and jewelry from Salvador Dalí. I loved the ruby inlayed lips with pearl teeth!

My mom brought some old pictures of me as a kid that I will show you later.

SNEAK PEEK pen and ink art

This is a sneak peek of some of the pen and ink art I've been working on. Above is mini canvas painting with acrylic and ink. See how they look like little framed paintings inside the canvases? I had fun drawing the fine lines on them! Little squiggles and details that I'm not used to getting with a brush.

Getting ready for some pen and ink!

I really enjoyed making the Mermaid Show painting yesterday because of the pen and ink details. SOOooOOOooo I am working on a few projects that incorporate the pen and ink and those creations should be ready for my etsy shop either tomorrow or Sunday. Brand new items hot off the presses!

Okay, this first one is not "off the presses", it is an original. The mermaid show! I used a lot of different collage papers, plus I tried something different.....pen and ink on top! I was afraid that the varnish would make it smear, but since it was waterproof ink it was fine. I think I will do more paintings with ink drawings on top.

I love the Samba Elégua!

Here in Toronto there is a group of musicians called the Samba Elégua. They often makes trips downtown in the summer to play their beats on the street. Whenever I hear those drums I go running out to see them like a kid when they hear the ice cream truck.
I just love that they dance down the street and make music! It is so much fun! It brings such a smile to my face. Today I heard them off in the distance, so I grabbed my video camera to show you what it is like.

Eat your greens

Every Sunday I go grocery shopping with Morgan. I remember hearing that you should only buy food from the outter perimeter of the grocery store. Everything in the middle is over processed, chemical, JUNK. So I *try* to stick to the outter perimeter. You know, fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, whole grains. Today I got sprouts! Spouts are an amazing SUPER FOOD! To find out more about sprouts and where I get mine from click here.
Today I made a sunflower sprout salad.
I start with olive oil in the bowl I will be eating out of. Then I squirt a bit of lemon juice and mix them together. I add a bit of salt and fresh ground peppercorn pepper. I then cut up some tomato and cucumber and add the sprouts and mix it all together. EASY and YUMMY! Oh and good for you too!

I like to wash it all down with a greens+ drink. Greens+ is a powder with lots of awesome ingredients in it. My favorite magical ingredient is spirulina. I feel such an energy BOOST when I drink it. I simply mix the greens+ powder with orange juice. Yes, once blended it is green, but that's okay! It is so GOOD!

Okay, now I'm off to eat a donut! LOL!!!! Come on, I can't be healthy ALL THE TIME!

My mom is an AMAZING artist who painted the above painting of me in the pool a few years ago. She works in oil paint on very large canvases.
She has an art show on now that is a big success! YAY MOM!
